| Article: Canned responses of enlightened beings |

Comment: "Someone that abides in the non-dual Self, cannot give a "canned response." Their whole Being vibrates with the sensation of Enlightenment." It looks to me that enlightenment is a process for humans that have reached the end of their rope and who now hope to be the ultimate spirtual person to be able to transcend all suffering. Given this aspect, I don't see that there can exist an 'enlightened being'. The most that can be said is that there are humans in a process, and most stagnate within it at the moment they feel they have reached the goal, usually by receiving sufficient confirmation from it. Probably they practised a form of meditation for many years and learned to quiet their mind at command and this was for them the most convincing proof that they had transcended themselves. Along with this practise they probably also studied with various teachers and read all the masters and much spiritual writings, looking carefully to select from all this the 'best material'. So then they were able to slowly adopt and lay down the new habit of mimicking a master. The most clever people being able to do it so well, that they not only convinced themselves but also others that they were very special people. They might have found out that if they stuck with the level of giving advice from their massive archive of accumulated wisdom, applying it through the intellectual concept of letting your response arise according to what is presenting, then you can convince most people that your responses are coming from another place besides that of your mind. But if you listen to them very close, you will be able to see the obvious pattern of repetition underneath the wise words. Betsy |
